Kites and Elephants (True Story).

"She's high as a kite, guess we should leave and let her sleep"
"Bye bye my darling, I'll be back later"
"Bye baby. Love you"

Those were the last things she remembered.
Then she was asleep.
Drifting off from a world of pain and machines
Into a land of peace and dreams.

The hospital's buzz was taking its toll.
The hustle and bustle of the day.
So she put her head down, as the meds kicked in
And listened to the fading sound of the ward's din.

Elephants, lots of them, just walking through the ward
Was the first thing she saw after her nap
"Am I going mad, or is this a dream?"
Was her reaction to the puzzling scene.

No, just the effects of a medicine so strong.
A simple hallucination when she rose from her slumber
Noiselessly the elephants crossed the ward and faded through the wall
As she looked about, it was as though it hadn't happened at all.
